01How To Read This

Where these numbers come from

Generation

Sized on roughly 1,500 units per kWp per year, typical for the Delhi NCR region on an unshaded roof.

Roof area

About 90 sq ft of shade-free roof per kWp. Parapets, water tanks and stair rooms reduce what is usable.

Payback

Based on typical installed cost before subsidy. Any subsidy you qualify for shortens this further.

What it is not

An indication, not a quotation. A site survey checks shading, roof condition and sanctioned load before we commit to figures.

02Common Questions

About these numbers

The most common questions about solar cost, roof area, generation and payback in Delhi NCR.

How much does a rooftop solar system cost in Delhi NCR?

As a rough guide before any subsidy, a home system runs about ₹60,000–65,000 per kWp, commercial about ₹50,000–55,000 per kWp, and large industrial projects less again because of scale. A 5 kWp home system therefore lands near ₹3 lakh. The calculator on this page applies these rates automatically. Your actual price depends on roof type, mounting structure, cable runs and the module and inverter you choose, which is why we survey the site before quoting.

How much roof area do I need for solar?

Allow roughly 90 sq ft of shade-free roof for every 1 kWp. So 5 kWp needs about 450 sq ft, and 100 kWp needs about 9,000 sq ft. Parapet walls, water tanks, stair rooms and lift machine rooms all cast shadows that reduce usable area, so a site survey usually finds a little less space than a drawing suggests.

How long does solar take to pay for itself?

For most sites in Delhi NCR the payback falls between four and six years, and the system keeps generating for 25 years or more. Payback is shorter where the electricity tariff is high, which is why commercial and industrial sites usually recover their cost faster than homes.

How much electricity will a system generate in Delhi?

About 1,500 units per kWp per year is a realistic figure for the Delhi NCR region on an unshaded roof. A 10 kWp system would therefore generate roughly 15,000 units a year. Generation is highest from March to May and dips during the monsoon and the winter smog period.
